The Chinese (Defective) Drywall Warranty Program
FBI, LLC, working with top industry experts now offers a full warranty on the removal of Chinese (Defective) Drywall. This Nationally Recognized Warranty is completely transferable and is good forever. It is recognized by the lending industry, so mortgages and refinances are possible. It is recognized by the insurance industry, so properties are once again insurable.
We also offer ongoing testing and monitoring services for homeowner peace of mind once remediation is complete.
What is Chinese Defective Drywall?
Millions of square feet of drywall were imported from China from 2002 through 2008. Estimates range from 100,000 homes to 500,000 or more buildings may be contaminated. Defective drywall was often mixed in with domestic drywall allocations.
Important: Chinese defective drywall has been found in houses, condominiums, apartments, office buildings and commercial structures.
How do I know if I have Chinese Defective Drywall?
Was the structure built between 2000 and 2008?
Was there substantial remodeling done during this time?
Has there been water intrusion, high humidity, or has the building HVAC system been off for extended periods?
In condos, apartments and office buildings, has Chinese defective drywall been found in other locations in the building? Or have other occupants experienced any symptoms which may have arisen from Chinese defective drywall?
Defective drywall may give off an offensive sulfurous odor that smells like rotten eggs.
Defective Drywall can blacken and cause corrosion to metal objects. These include electrical wiring, HVAC coils, plumbing pipes and fixtures, tarnish silverware, jewelry, and damage household appliances such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, and computers.
Reports of adverse reaction to defective drywall include nose bleeds, headaches, eye irritation, respiratory problems, sinus problems, allergies and asthma, skin rashes.
If your building has one or more of the above you may need to have a Chinese defective drywall inspection performed.
How We Can Help?
The First Step:We can perform a careful class one visual survey of the accessible building, plumbing, electrical, HVAC components to determine if there are any obvious risks as a result of Chinese Defective Drywall. We will observe any place that drywall manufacturer's markings may be readily visible. When complete we will issue a report. This is a reasonable and economical first step in determining if there is currently a problem and granting peace of mind.
The Second Step: If there are any indicators that Chinese Defective Drywall may be present, we identify the Chinese defective drywall by location. We look behind the drywall for manufacturers markings.. We send samples for additional laboratory analysis. X ray efflorescence is another option that can be performed on site. Upon completion a condition report will be issued. If it is determined that there is defective drywall we will meet with you and explain your options.
Your Options if You Have Chinese Drywall
Removal
The first and best option is removal. We work with experts who will prepare a removal protocol which will make your house acceptable for the Chinese (Defective) Drywall Warranty program.
Florida Building Inspections, LLC can work with your legal team to be sure that you are in compliance with all of the requirements of the class action law suits and insurance requirements now in progress.
Mitigation
Are there any options other than removal of all drywall in the building once Chinese defective drywall is found?
Removal of Chinese defective drywall is the only known remediation. Any strategy that does not address the full removal of all defective drywall, correction of any damages caused and proper decontamination of the site and contents will not fully correct the problem. Not correcting the damages already caused may leave unsafe electrical and mechanical issues.

Testing and Verification
FBI can establish a base line for air quality caused by Chinese defective drywall. This base line is established to monitor and verify the success of any remediation protocol. This testing and verification should be an ongoing process. It is also important in situations where contents have been reintroduced to establish that there has been no cross contamination.
